Colin was born in London in 1934. He studied painting and architecture at Walthamstow College of Art in East London, and worked for a number of years as an Architect. In 1971 he was elected a Member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours (RI).
Colin’s atmospheric paintings are captivating. Sometimes stark and haunting but always compelling. The deceptive simplicity of his art shows how the ordinary can become dramatic and extraordinary. His artworks are imbued with a sense of timelessness, a romantic atmosphere and a sense of isolation.
The quality of his painting is further enhanced by his imaginative use of ink and gouache with watercolour. Colin achieves texture and delicate tones by which his work is distinguished as an outstanding modern artist. His main source of inspiration is derived from East Anglian coastal and inland locations where solitude predominates and natural forms have softened the evidence of human presence.
Colin’s artworks are popular with a dedicated following at home and abroad. His paintings are exhibited at the Annual RI Exhibition as well as at the prestigious Royal Academies and at eminent galleries in America, throughout the United Kingdom, Europe and in the Far East.
